Use your own domain
Updated September 25, 2026
You can put your LOCLbox page on your own web address, like yourbusiness.com. Buy one through LOCLbox and we register and connect it for you, or connect a domain you already own. Your loclbox.com address keeps working either way.
Everything below is in the Custom Domain card on Settings > Billing.
Step by step
-
Search for a name
Under Find a domain, type the name you want (with or without .com, no http:// or www) and press Search. Names you can buy show a yearly price and a Choose button.
-
Check the price and pay
After you press Choose you see the first-year price and the yearly renewal price. The price is held for a few minutes. Press Pay and register to open secure checkout.
Your card is held, not charged, until the domain is registered. If we cannot register it, the hold is released and you pay nothing. Once registered, a domain cannot be refunded. For renewals, use a debit or credit card. Link is not accepted for domains.
-
Watch it go live
The card shows each stage: Payment, Registration, DNS, Verify, Live. Registration usually takes a few minutes. When it says Live, your page opens at your new address.
Auto-renew
Auto-renew is on when you buy. The card shows the date your domain is registered until and the yearly renewal price. About a month before that date we remind you by email, and the renewal is charged to your saved card about 30 days before it expires.
To stop renewing, press Turn auto-renew off. The domain then lapses on that date. If a renewal is already under way, the card tells you whether turning auto-renew off can still stop it.
Add or replace the renewal card
Renewals are charged to the card you saved at checkout. To use a different card, press Replace card. If the card says We need a debit or credit card to renew, press Add a card. Both open a secure Stripe page. Nothing is charged when you add a card, and a waiting renewal carries on once a card is saved.
Point a domain you already own
- Under Already own a domain?, type it (for example yourbusiness.com) and press Connect my domain.
- The card then lists the exact DNS records to add: an A record for @, a CNAME for www, and a TXT record named _loclbox-verify. Each has a Copy button.
- Sign in where you bought the domain (your registrar), open its DNS settings, and add those records. Remove any older A or CNAME records for @ and www that point somewhere else.
- Come back and press Check now. DNS changes can take from a few minutes to a few hours.
Disconnecting a live domain
To take a live domain off your page, talk to support. We do it with you so your page never goes dark by accident.
